Did you know?

The first musk ox discovered in
Sweden in modern time was spotted
on Mount Hovärken. Visit the only
musk-ox pen in the world, 50 minutes
by car from Lofsdalen. One of the
largest gold deposits ever in America
was discovered by Erik O Lindblom
who came from Lofsdalen. The story
of his life is described in the book
“Sista blicken bakåt”. (The final glance
back) a recently published book by
Lofsdalen-born author Marit
Manfredsdotter.

Lofsdalen is perhaps best known as a winter destination and with a vertical drop of 492 metres, the ski slopes are both challenging and interesting, mainly attracting families who return year after year. Now we have added challenges for our summer guests as well: with the creation of Lofsdalen Bike Park, young as well as adult riders can take on the downhill bicycle rides.

Last summer saw the opening of Lofs-dalen Bike Park, Sweden’s newest downhill bike park. With the help of the world’s best park designer we now have a long green line, as much as 3 330 metres long. It suits both kids and adults, is easy to ride slowly and safely and youngsters aged between 5 and 75 have made their way down.

Bikers yearning for more action should try the great Happy MTB, a path with banked curves and minor hills. Here you can pick up speed but still with easily maintained control.

Adventure seeking bikers should try Venom and Viper, two challenging trails with rocks, drops and other difficulties.

In Lofsdalen you can walk as far as you like on the 150 km of marked trails. You can also go cross-country bicycling at a leisurely smooth pace, such as circling Lake Lofssjön, a 40 km tour.

The activities’ hall ‘Aktivitetshuset’ in Lofsdalen has become a tremendous success. The 1,300 square metre hall comprises six bowling lanes, a play-land, golf and shooting simulator, arcade games, billiards, dart, and air-hockey and a good restaurant.

Fishing in Lake Lofssjön and the smaller lakes and tarns in the surroundings is quite good. Here you can try beating the local record in Lake Lofssjön, a brown trout weighing 9.6 kilo.

Genuine hikes

In Lofsdalen the fells are near for both big and small hikers. Choose between challenging treks, brief rambles, or ride the six-seater chairlift part of the way uphill.

Genuine angling

In all probability, Lofsdalen has one of the very best fishing waters in Härjedalen for brown trout, and also excellent lakes for Arctic char and rich grayling streams.

Genuine bicycling

Go downhill biking in Lofsdalen Bike Park, the new downhill courses on Mount Hovärken. Explore the mountains on a bicycle; the route circling Lake Lofssjön tempts with great scenery and cosy rest areas. Unless you bring your own bike, there are all sorts for hire.

Choir festival

The success event of last year is up for a rerun on 8-12 August. Some of Sweden’s best choir leaders help you find the right cords. Big final concert with secret artist.

HoVärken

Demanding uphill race up on Mount Hovärken; 4 km with a vertical of 500 meter. Elite and amateur classes.

Lofssjön Runt

Bicycle race round Lake Lofssjön, 40 km. Elite and amateur classes.

Lofsdalstrampet Junior

Bicycle race for children up to 12 years.

Pilgrim trail

In the footsteps of the pilgrims along the Romboleden trail. Starting from Högvålen the hikers follow the old pilgrim path down towards Lofsdalen, 30 km.

Beaver safari

A guided tour into the land of the beavers. Spot the beaver in its natural habitat. See the den and the dam.

In the trolls’ forest with Loffelina

Loffelina, Lofsdalen’s very own troll, takes you along on a fairytale walk on her paths in the magic Trolludden.

Lime-kiln

The oldest traces of lime-burning are some 11,000 years old. Only two lime-kilns remain unburned in Jämtland County and one of them is located in Glöte. The background to it remaining unburned is clouded in mystery. What do you think?

Rombovallen

Medieval burial site along the Pilgrimsleden. At Rombovallen is today a reconstructed chapel with BBQ facilities. Rombovallen is easily reached by car.

Hoedestupet

Waterfall. In the days when timber was floated down the river, a log fume was created here next to the precipice to facilitate the floating. Here you can see the Glöte porphyry in its right environment.

Lillhärjåbygget

Here, at one of few remaining mountain farms in road-less land, live and work the Erikssons this family farm dating back to the early 1800s. Since 2002 the farm is a cultural heritage reserve. Guided tours are organised.

Bear’s den walks

Escorted by a guide you can visit a genuine bear’s den. Everyone who dares may crawl in.

Myskoxcentrum

The first musk-ox to arrive in Sweden were spotted on Mount Hovärken. Visit the only musk-ox pen in the world, a mere 50 minutes by car from Lofsdalen.

Genuine winter

Those who love really great skiing and want their holiday to please all the members of the family should come to Lofsdalen. Lofsdalen is something as rare as a family ski resort with really good alpine skiing. Here are also excellent tracks for cross-country skiing and ski touring trails on the peaks.
